Can you introduce yourself, please?

I’m Dan Adeyemi, a London based Freelance Creative Technologist, Artist and
an IG story floating head .

Dan Adeyemi.

How did you decide to study Creative Computing? Was it tough?

I was always interested in the idea of using computers to do something fun.
When I saw the course at Goldsmiths, I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do. The idea of learning how to use code in a creative manner really appealed to me. It was tough! I think any uni course is really.

How would you define your work?

I guess I’d define my work in it’s current state as functional and aesthetically
pleasing. However this is always changing.

Work for Vogue Spain.

What’s the best about writing code?

When things actually work. Seriously… that endorphin hit when you’ve been trying to work something out for ages and then bang, it comes together.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how important is social media for you?

At the moment, it’s a 1 but to be honest, that really needs to change. I’m going to dial it up to a 6 for Spring/Summer 2018.

Work for Dazed Media.

If you had to put together your all-time top 3 favourite projects, which would they be?

My own projects would be the what you feel piece, the Vogue Spain trends report piece and an aleatoric music project I did with Max MSP called line~ open.

How do you feel about today’s digital sphere?

In all honesty, I feel like we’re kinda moving to fast for what we actually
understand. There’s a lot of societal and ethical issues being glossed over as we introduce new technology into our everyday lives and this worries me a bit.
However, in terms of what people are actually doing, it’s interesting I guess. I haven’t seen anything really groundbreaking in a while.

Work for Re-bel Magazine.

What are your predictions for the future of design+coding?

There will be no design + coding just virtual reality-like recordings that allow users to experience the emotions and past experiences of others.

Who or what inspires you?

I’m extremely lucky to have an amazing group of friends around me who constantly inspire me. Nicholas Thoburn, Maggie Nelson, Johanna Drucker… I find inspiring in terms of modes of thinking.

Work for KK OBI.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Myself. Keeping motivated and not getting too down about stuff.

Dan in 3D.

How do you see yourself in 12 months?

I see myself just being better at what I do. I’m constantly on a mission to learn new things.

How do you see yourself in 5 years?

I really don’t know. Hopefully still creating stuff.
