New LCD Soundsystem video — Two stay-at-home scientists. One incredible song.

Julian Glander’s new game, Art Sqool — Art Sqool, which is available for PC and Mac on 5 February, is, as the title suggests, an art school simulator. You play as Froshmin, a freshman ready to explore campus. Froshmin is joined by Professor Qwertz, an “art-trained AI” faculty advisor who loves nothing more than the fact he is blessed with the ability to “use his high-tech capabilities to objectively grade your work.”

Spike Jonze and Idris Elba’s Squarespace ads — Did you know that Idris Elba has his own streetwear brand?

Smart Countertop Oven — Whirlpool Corporation’s WLabs introduced the Smart Countertop Oven at CES. This countertop device uses food-recognition technology and automatically sets the time and temperature for each food it detects.

6 Artists who are shaping the future of AI — From using AI to create new and innovative genres in music, to new takes on classical nudes, and innovative ways to track anonymous warfare, art’s relationship to AI right now is illuminating humanity’s strength.

Little Sophia is born — It’s Sophia the Robot’s little sister, and a new kind of STEM, AI and coding learning companion for ages 7–13.

Uncovering how streaming is changing the sound of pop — Hit-making songwriters and producers reveal the ways they are tailoring tracks to fit a musical landscape dominated by streaming.

You should know what Mallwave is — A lo-fi subgenre of vaporwave that listeners refer to as “music optimized for abandoned malls.” Like Vaporwave creators, Mallwave musicians use soft drum tracks, ambient sounds and low-quality synthesizers to create soft, calming electronic music. They also mix in pop music associated with the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, with the purpose of creating a holistic “nostalgic” experience, one that recreates the experience you would have had when visiting the mall.
