Cool Shit #20
Here’s an update on weird interesting innovative stuff we’ve found on the Internet.
BioLite FirePit — Enjoy the warmth, smell, crackle, and feel of a wood campfire, without any of the smoke. Ignite your fuel (characoal or dead trees) in the pit’s body, then dial the flames up or down in the app which controls 51 teeny air jets in the burn chamber. The rechargeable power jack is good for up to 24 hours of computer-controlled burn.
Agua Viva —A short animated film that portrays the immigrant experience of a Chinese manicurist in Miami.
Blipblox — A synth for kids. It has pro-ready features like MIDI support, multiple modulation filters and an integrated drum machine.
The Blessings of Aging — Jenny Schweitzer’s latest short is an uplifting account of life in an American retirement home.
Eames Radio — Eames chairs are all over the place but this Eames Radio is a rare gadget. It’s a 1946 table radio that was never manufactured until now. The revived radio gets a 21st-century update with the addition of Bluetooth connectivity. Fewer than 1,000 have been made.
King Krule’s New Video — A handmade animated video by his multi-talented brother, Jack Marshall.
Petronics Mousr — Let’s see if your cat can outwit a semi-sentient toy. The sensors in this mouse detect your cat’s movements so it can react accordingly.
Sprocket Rocket — This Lomography camera shoots wide panoramic images across multiple frames of 35-mm film, exposing the whole surface, even around the sprocket holes.
World Record Egg — Last but not least, let’s see the world record egg one last time.
