Google’s Design best of 2018 — Over the past 12 months, Google has been delving deep into the fascinating world of machine learning with articles on Google Design, plus new open-source projects and products. Google Design, for the uninitiated, is an initiative led by an uber-talented selection of developers, designers, and writers at Google. Check out It’s Nice That Google’s Design best of 2018.

Dante Zaballa’s My Trip to Japan — My Trip to Japan is based on a real conversation he had with friend Juan Molinet (which he secretly recorded) before they left the country, it’s a morphing animation transitioning through memories from Tokyo, Hiroshima, Miyoshi, Naoshima and Kyoto.

Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared — The show, created by the fun-filled directors Becky and Joe, will head to Sundance Film Festival next year. The Blinkink creative duo will premier their Youtube-hit series at the largest independent film festival in the US this January 2019.

The Verge’s 2018 Tech Summary — There has been so much news and information hitting us from all sides over this past year that, at times, it has seemed almost overwhelming, The Verge has summed it up in a series of photos.

GRIS — A serene and evocative experience, free of danger, frustration or death. Players will explore a meticulous designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score.

Any.do — Popular to-do list software Any.do now has a smart grocery list feature within its mobile app that you can share with friends and family to make shopping more efficient. Algorithms naturally sort food items by category such as “fruits & vegetables” and “dairy & cheese,” to keep you from having to visit the same aisle twice.

Chrome Canvas — Google has quietly released a progressive web app called Chrome Canvas that lets you make quick doodles that automatically save to your Google account, via Chrome Unboxed.That means you can just type in “canvas.apps.chrome” into a Chrome browser on any computer, and pull up a basic drawing app without having to download any programs or apps.

Apple Music Stats —“Music Year in Review” shows an overview of what you listened to throughout the year on Apple Music, similar to Spotify’s “Wrapped” program.

Google Home Alone — Google’s latest ad reimagines Home Alone with Google Assistant.

Snapchat’s dog friendly now — Maybe you’ve already deleted the app but just in case, Snapchat has added dog lenses.
